Let me start by saying—not to worry, the wines we made and bottled from the 2020 vintage are good. We don’t have smoke in our wines from the disastrous fires that whipped through California and Oregon wine country. This is nei-ther due to our being geniuses (well, not wholly), nor that we used technological trickery to strip smoke aromas from our wines (we did not.) As with all things at Peay, our coastal location up against the breezy Pacific Ocean and our distance from the fires raging across the West Coast of the United States moderated the fire’s impact.
